John Graham started his career in film with the BBC’s Film Unit in Ealing Studios London. Retiring after almost 30 years with the BBC, he became Director of the BKSTS (British Kinomatographic Sound and Television Society) in 1999. With concerns being expressed at this time that a strong European voice was needed to ensure that European concerns were recognised & dealt with as Digital Cinema developed, the BKSTS combined with government and industry colleagues in the UK, France and Sweden to create the European Digital Cinema Forum – EDCF. In the subsequent thirteen years EDCF has become established as the foremost representative body for technical issues in European Digital Cinema. EDCF has also provided an important bridge with similar technical organisations in the USA. The EDCF was legally formalised in 2003 and at this time John was appointed to the position of EDCF General Secretary which he still holds.
